Gold and Silver ‘Daily Prices’ book, 1908 - 1923

Contemporary lists recording the daily market prices of gold and silver in the early 20th century.

Recorded between 1908 and 1923, these books list the daily prices of gold and silver, but also the daily rates of exchange for cities like Paris, Amsterdam, Berlin and Madrid. They are particularly interesting during the First World War, where they document the direct impact the war was having on the shift in gold prices through events such as army advances and casualties. Other notable occurrences such as salvage operations and the movement of silver and gold are also recorded.
