What we offer you

There’s much to gain from working for the Bank of England

Overview

From being involved in career-defining projects at the heart of the UK economy to receiving a rewarding pay and benefits package, the benefits of working at the Bank of England are extensive.

Comprehensive reward package

We value your work. We pay a competitive base salary, and reward your performance annually with a discretionary, non-pensionable cash award. And we help you prepare for the future with a defined-benefit, non-contributory career average pension.

Flexible working

We want to support your work/life balance. We are family friendly, and committed to job sharing, part-time working and hybrid working. We aim for all colleagues to spend half of their time in the office, with a minimum expectation of 40% across the month. Or if you prefer you can work all of your hours in one of our offices across the UK.

Leave from work

We offer 26 days annual leave with the option of buying additional days if you need more time away from work. We also offer a variety of leave options for those who need them, including study, family, carer and volunteering leave.

Health care cover

We want to help you stay well – both physically and mentally. Our health and wellbeing package offers a range of services including private medical insurance, income protection insurance and access to fully qualified counsellors.

Benefits+ scheme

We offer a lot of extra benefits as well. People value different things at different stages of our lives. Our optional Benefits+ scheme allows you to choose further benefits to suit your lifestyle, such as gym membership, travel insurance and much more.

Colleague Networks and our Sports and Social club

We create opportunities for colleagues to come together. At work, colleagues lead networks and groups that support its members and help us make our policies as inclusive as possible. Outside of work, you can take part in our sports and social club, which offers activities to suit all interests and budgets.
